Collection: THE CARIGENA
In this selection we propose 3 wines where Carignan is the only character on the bottle. Single-varietal. You will be able to discover the secrets hidden by this variety. Carignan is disguised in many wines throughout the geography of the Iberian Peninsula, from a minority of the wines of the DOC Rioja, where it is known as Mazuelo, to the great wines of Priorat, where it gains prominence, such as Samsó. Surviving century-old vineyards, on slate soils, provide us with the most unique and spectacular wines. Aragón and the neighbouring Montsant del Priorat also give us great examples of wines with Carignan.
This variety, previously widespread throughout France until the 1960s and 1970s, is now limited to the Languedoc-Roussillon region.
Bright wines with aromas of blueberries, regalia and minerality. The tannins are of the kind that hook you; more or less depending on how the winemaker works them. Very good acidity, which gives the wine a freshness; being an ideal variety to mix with varieties that have lower acidity.
A variety with a great future, as it demonstrates good adaptation to climate change and is resistant to pests.
Wines that are sought after; don't miss the opportunity!!
